Tax New Zealand: April v2026.03 release

An update for the Access APS NZ Tax Application (2026.03) will be released on Monday 20 April 2026, between 7pm and 9pm NZST. This release includes numerous fixes and improvements for cloud returns.

Return Improvements

  • IR3 and IR3NR: A dedicated field shows the total ACC earner levy directly within the return interface.

  • IR4J: An Imputation return can now be filed as a standalone return and validation has been added to prevent negative values being entered in fields that do not allow them.

  • IR6: A warning now appears when imputation credits allocated exceed the total available.

  • IR3, IR3NR, IR4, IR6 and IR7: The system distinguishes between portfolio and individual properties when calculating rental losses.

  • Summary reports have been updated for Research and Development Tax Credits

Auto-Calc Improvements

  • An overseas based borrower worksheet has been added to auto-calc.

  • An auto-calc can now be converted to an IR3NR return.

  • Auto-calc data can now be retrieved even where the notification was sent to a different tax agent.

Transfers

  • Transfers are now prevented from exceeding the available refund amount across all returns.

  • A tax year pulldown list has been added to the other transfer section.

  • The issue where transfers were showing ‘undefined-03-31’ in the payload has been resolved.

Display and Usability

  • A new error summary section has been added, making it easier to identify and resolve issues before filing.
