An update for the Access APS NZ Tax Application (2026.04) will be released on Monday 18 May 2026, between 7pm and 9pm NZST.
It included new features t=to make your day-to-day workflow faster, more consistent, and easier to manage across a range of returns.
Return Improvements
IR3 The validation message for the override option for the PIE rate only being available to tax preparers has been removed.
IR3 and auto-calc A Working for Families summary report has been added, making it easier to review family tax credit information alongside the return.
IR4J An Imputation Detail report is now available for standalone IR4J returns.
IR6 IR6S now works the same as the IR6B for country of residence and IRD number/TIN handling, ensuring a more reliable and uniform experience.
IR10 KP60 for investment boost will show on the income and tax detail report.
IR3, IR4, IR6 and IR7 A total imputation credits field has been added to the dividends key point, giving a clearer at-a-glance summary of credits applied.
All returns A function has been added so you can use the ‘client name’ field to select and populate IRD number fields, making it faster and easier to select the correct IRD number for each client.
Auto-Calc Improvements
A Working for Families calculation worksheet has been added to auto-calc, allowing the credit to be calculated directly within the workflow.
Auto-calc syncing has been updated to work in the same way as tax returns, providing a more consistent experience.
The auto-calc now allows selection of the student loan worksheet for overseas based borrowers.
Transfers
Transfer improvements have been made across IR3, IR3NR, IR4, IR6, and IR526 returns, including more accurate handling and better validation to reduce errors during the transfer process.
Desktop component updates
In this release there is a change to the desktop, so you will need to download and install files from Access APS (New Zealand): Tax Release update 18 May 2026.
