Tax New Zealand: Error: 'Error retrieving on-premise return', 'Unable to retrieve return details for web return creation' Cloud return

The errors occur when trying to create a new cloud return from Tax Manager or Central Console.

These errors can be caused by too many characters stored in the Phone number field in Central Console client details. During the return creation process, this data is used in a Tax Table field that allows only 12 characters.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Open Central Console.

  2. Expand the Client Band.

  3. Click on Details.

  4. Navigate to the Phone (Main) field.

  5. Remove any extra characters, ensure it contains 12 or less characters.

  6. Create the return again as usual.
