Australian Tax: Create log files for APS Reports

Log files are required to troubleshoot your ATO reports issue.

Updated over a month ago

Follow the steps below.

  1. Log out of APS on the PC where the error has occurred. If you are operating on a server, make ensure all users are logged out of APS before changing this setting.

  2. Go to Windows, File Explorer, C Drive, ADV 2000, Tax Forms and C drive, Program Files (x86) Advance Tax, Framework to locate the below files on the PC:

  • C:\Adv2000\TaxForms\App.config

  • C:\Adv2000\TaxForms\Aps.Applications.Tax.Australia.SBRAUSKeyConfiguration.exe.config

  • C:\Adv2000\TaxForms\Aps.Framework.SBRService.Host.exe.config

  • C:\Adv2000\TaxForms\Aps.TaxService.Host.exe.config

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Advance Tax\Framework\Aps.Applications.Tax.Australia.SBRAUSKeyConfiguration.exe.config

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Advance Tax\Framework\Aps.Framework.Runtime.Loader.exe.config

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Advance Tax\Framework\Aps.Framework.SBRService.Host.exe.config

  1. Open each file to edit.

  2. Locate a field called <add Key = "EnableReckonAS4Logging"Value= False"/>

  3. Set this to True.

  4. Save your changes. The system will start to create XML log files.

  1. Go to Tax Agents console, Manage Request.

  2. Select the report you would like to request.

  3. To lodge the Agent report request, go to Batch Processing, select the form and click Apply to lodge.

  4. The form types will have the same name in Batch Processing and will be ready for lodgement.

  5. The lodgement does not receive the report instantly.

  6. From Batch Processing select the button Retrieve Pending SBR Reports to retrieve any available reports from the ATO and logs will be created.

  7. Go to C:\Users\AffectedUser\AppData and press Enter. This is usually a hidden folder.

  8. Whilst in this folder search for ReckonAS4.

  1. Open the ReckonAS4Client folder to see Logs Directory.

  2. Check the Date Modified field of these files. They should match the lodgement time on the SBR Validation Report.

  3. Copy and upload the XML files created in this folder via your case in the Access APS Portal.

  4. Leave the tags to set as True, as we may request newer log files for the same ticket.

Once Your Case Is Resolved

You will need to change the tags to False once your case is resolved by changing add Key = "EnableReckonAS4Logging" Value= True"/> to False.
