Practice Management: Create a new Milestone for a Standard Matter

How to create a new milestone for an existing standard matter.

Follow the steps below to add a new milestone:

  1. Go to System Administration console, Workflow Templates.

  2. Select Milestones.

  3. The screen will refresh, select Show Available Milestones (shortcut key Alt-S).

  4. Click Edit Mode.

  5. When Milestones are displayed correctly, select the template you wish to update by using the search bar next to Workflow Template Filter. You can either type an * to show all templates, or type part of the name and pick from the drop down list.

  6. To add a new milestone, right-click anywhere on the All Available Milestones pane on the right-hand side and select Create New Milestone.

  7. At the bottom of the right-hand pane, a new milestone entry will be created. Complete the boxes as required: Code, Description, etc and click on Edit Mode to save the new milestone.

  8. The new milestone it will be automatically sorted into alphabetical order based on the Code used. This may require you to locate the milestone before adding to your template.

  9. Locate the new milestone, then drag it from the right‑hand pane into the left‑hand pane to include it in the selected template.

  10. Refresh the template on the Standard or Internal Matter. To do this, re‑select the Milestone Template in the matter console and replace the existing milestones so they display during timesheet entry.

📌Note: If the Milestones are displayed in a very small window, maximise the Workflow Templates window or select Catalogue on the slider bar and toggle Remove Available Milestones and Show Available Milestones to restore the normal view.

📌Note: To add a milestone to the middle of the list, you will need to temporarily remove milestones above that point, add the new milestone to the bottom, and then re‑add the earlier milestones.
