This error message is referring to one of the Tax Identification number (TIN) fields in either the IR6S or IR6B attachment. This can be caused by one of those fields containing an 'empty string' (which is not visible), making it an invalid TIN, rather than it being a completely blank field, which is fine.
β
Unfortunately, the error doesn't identify which record within the IR6S or IR6B has the issue.
β
Please update the TIN field for each Settlor and Beneficiary and enter an asterisk character: *
This will replace the 'empty string' with a valid character and allow the return to be lodged:
Take the return back to the Rework status.
Navigate to the IR6S/IR6B TIN field for each record.
Type in: *
Note: If the TIN field it is greyed out, please select No to the option TIN not required in jurisdiction.
Save return.
Move the status of the return on and re-lodge the return.
If you continue to have problems lodging the return, please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article.
