Tax Australia: Renewing lodgement machine credentials

Renewing lodgement machine credentials in the ATO Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)

Updated over a month ago

Machine credentials are used to securely authenticate and authorize software applications to interact with ATO services, particularly for Standard Business Reporting (SBR).

Machine credentials are valid for two years and require a manual renewal, so it is advised you check the expiration of those credentials.

The expiry or valid to date of your machine credential can be found in the Relationship Authorisation Manager.

Renew your machine credentials

To renew your ATO Machine Credentials:

  • A new machine credential will need to be created with the same name as the original machine credential.

  • The new machine credential should be created before the original machine credential expires.

  • The machine credential administrator (MCA) when logged into RAM will need to follow the How to install a machine credential guide to update the credential.

  • To use the new machine credentials in APS, you will need to setup/update the lodgement credentials in Tax Manager.
