This release includes critical bug fixes, validation updates, and system improvements to enhance the stability and compliance of Access APS Tax for the 2026 tax year.
What's new?
Fringe Benefits Tax Return
The 2026 Fringe Benefits Tax return is now available.
Note: Lodgement of 2026 FBT returns will be accepted by the ATO from 1st April 2026. Attempting to lodge a 2026 FBT return before then will result in a 'ServiceActionDenied' error.
New Activity Statements
The ATO has introduced a new Activity Statement 2025 (AS2025) service to replace the deprecated AS2009 service. This update aims to improve data accuracy, enhance pre-fill capabilities, and introduce stricter monthly reporting for non-compliant businesses.
ATO Updates
All the ATO specification updates from January to March 2026 have been included.
Digital Assistant and new APS Help Centre
To further enhance your digital support options, we have designed the Digital Assistant to provide instant answers to your most frequently asked questions in a new APS Help Centre.
Fixes and Improvements
The following updates have been included since the previous release.
Description | Reference |
Include a new System and User Setting to “Use alternate default export file name” for renaming PDF files to “Entity Name - Year - Income Tax Return”. | AAEP-32820 |
Updated validations by converting all APS errors to APS warnings, plus APS errors now prevent lodgement for forms that are 2023 or newer. A new System and User Setting has been included for notifying whether a Trust and/or Individual return has missing EFT details. | AAEP-32368 |
A warning is now displayed to select code C, where the spouse details indicate that they either had a spouse for the whole year, or their spouse died before the end of the year, and they were still single on the final day of the year, and they have chosen code A in the PHI section. | AAEP-32394 |
In some scenarios, the Trust return is taking a long time to update due to validation checks. The Disable Validation button has now been included in the Trust form for these scenarios and is available from the 2023 Trust onwards. | AAEP-32815 |
Added a new tab called “Help Centre” and moved the Digital Assistant button in there for easier access. | AAEP-33164 |
