Practice Management: Error: 'Cannot call friend function' when opening desktop timesheets

When accessing the desktop timesheets we are receiving the following errors Error: Cannot call friend function on object which is not an instance of defining class (97) Error: The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable (462)

This error happens when the Timesheets program is left open without any activity on the computer or session for 20 minutes or longer. It can also occur if the connection between the timesheet and the database server times out because the Timesheet module was left open while the main Practice Management module was closed first.


Suggestions to fix this error

  • Log off from APS.

  • If the issue persists, the next step is to log off from the workstation and log back in. However, if you are using Citrix, or a terminal server, or workspace environments to access APS, request your IT to sign you out of your session.
