What is Make Private?

Make Private is an option that allows you to lock a return for exclusive use by the user who made the return was Made Private by. The Make Private option is available by right-clicking on a Tax return & selecting from the menu.


How to set up the Make Private option for users

Make Private is set up by enabling the relevant Joe Right. Open Joe Admin:


Select the relevant user/profile:

Select View > Joe Rights, then select Tax Manager from the Joe Rights list. Tick the box Allow Private Returns from the left-hand pane:

How to make a Private Return Public again

There are a couple of ways to make a Private return Public again. The methods are as follows:

  • Open Central using the login for the person who has the return made Private (Can find this by right clicking on the return & selecting Properties ). Right-click on the return and select Make Public.

  • Open Batch Processing and, by using the selector, filter for the particular client. Add the client return to the selection screen & click Next. On the next screen, select Private Returns Make Public from the Task list, select the owner, then the return & click Apply to update.
