Tax Australia: Dividends Duplication

Dividends duplicate on Distribution and cannot be deleted.(Document 691).

The return can be deleted and recreated; however, the workaround below will remove the orphaned records that are currently displayed in the grid and cannot be updated or deleted.

To perform this fix, enable Development Mode by setting both DevelopmentMode and TaxDevMode to True. This will provide access to the backend tools required to resolve the issue.

Follow the below steps:

  1. Open the Registry Editor by by searching for Registry Editor in the Windows search bar.

  2. Double click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Advanced Professional Solutions, Advance Framework .NET\Settings\Core.

  3. Update the following values:
    DevelopmentMode =True.
    TaxDevMode =True.

  4. Open the Individual Return and navigate to Income, Dividends. Confirm that multiple entries have been posted to the grid before proceeding with the backend correction.

  5. Click Find and search for CompanyDistributionsReceivedWorksheet.

  6. A list of all dividend records that have been received will be displayed.

  7. Double-click a record to open the Company Distribution Received Worksheet associated with that dividend entry.

  8. You can access the read-only entries from this worksheet. For each entry, remove all amounts recorded in the Company Distribution Received Worksheet. Ensure that all entries are cleared before proceeding.

  9. Once the amounts have been deleted, the corresponding entries will automatically be removed from the Income, Dividends grid. As each worksheet is cleared, the related orphaned record should disappear from the grid.

  10. Once all entries have been cleared from the worksheet, return to the Company Return, redistribute the amounts, and click on Resynchronise.

  11. This should generate a single entry with the correct amount. Open the Individual Return and navigate to Income, Dividends to confirm that the correct entry is displayed in the grid.

  12. If everything appears correct, save the return and exit.

  13. After completing the above steps, revert Development Mode back to normal user mode.

  14. Open the Registry Editor by by searching for Registry Editor in the Windows search bar.

  15. Double click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Advanced Professional Solutions, Advance Framework .NET\Settings\Core.
