Tax Australia: Assessable balancing adjustment amount incorrect

Assessable balancing adjustment figure is wrong/significantly low when disposing vehicle.

Follow the below to resolve the issue:

  1. Go to Assets.

  2. Select the Asset, Motor vehicle expense and Deduction.

  3. In Number of prior year days where Div 40 deduction methods applied field, enter in the days.

  4. Transmit the correct numbers into the Assessable balancing adjustment.

  5. If the Asset has been claimed fully using the Temporary Full Expensing method, ensure the deduction method under MV is not set to X : Deduction not claimed, which is treated as personal use.

  6. If you change to the Log Book method, even though there are 0 deductions, it will change the balancing adjustment amount and update correctly.

๐Ÿ“ŒNote: Assuming the full number of days, you may need to account for business use over prior years. The calculation is (Termination Value-Closing Adjustable Value)ร—(Sum of reductions)/(Total decline).
