The error usually occurs when there is a mismatch of version numbers indicating the Advance TaxForms Australia database has not been upgraded.
Follow the below to check the versions:
Go to Help, About Advance.
Locate Advance TaxAustralia and Advance TaxForms Australia and make a note of the versions. The below example shows that the two Tax versions do not match.
You will need to upgrade the Advance TaxForms Australia database by running the Database Schema. This requirement was included in the installation notes but was missed during the installation process.
Upgrade the Database Schema
If Virtual Cabinet is installed on the workstation or server, follow the Stop Virtual Cabinet Services instructions to temporarily turn off this service.
Once the install has been completed, it is essential that the database schema is updated. The database upgrade will only need to be completed once. If you are not using Virtual Cabinet Services, proceed with the following:
Open windows explorer and browse to the ‘Program Files\Advance Tax\Framework’ directory or ‘Program files (x86)\Advance Tax\Framework’ for 64 bit systems.
Locate and double click on ‘UpdateAdvanceTaxSchema.exe’ in the Framework directory.
The Advance Database Upgrade window will appear. This window will display any connections currently established with the tax database.
The listed connections will be closed by the update process, so it is essential that any applications that are connected to the database are closed prior to proceeding to prevent data loss.
If you have a current full database back up, check the box confirming this in the window. If not, please back up your database before continuing. Click on Start to update the database.
Once the process has been completed a confirmation message will be displayed.
You have now successfully upgraded the APS Tax database.
