A new feature allows the Tax agent name setting to be updated directly from the Return Details screen within the web return. The setting can now be maintained separately for each income year.
Any changes made will be reflected in the return within the Tax Console.
However, this does not update the Tax Agent setting at the client level, so the two values may differ.
When the return is rolled forward to 2027, the client-level tax agent setting will be used. In this example, the Tax Agent Name shown in the return details screen reverts to Reckon Test5, as this is the default client-level setting.
Changing the Tax Agent Name in the web return does not update the client-level Tax agent setting. As a result, the tax agent field and selection options will continue to reflect the client-level setting unless that setting is also updated.
This should be taken into account when selecting a Tax Agent or assigning returns by Tax Agent, as the value displayed in the return may differ from the client-level tax agent setting.
This provides the same functionality that was previously available in Tax Manager. The Tax Agent can be changed for an individual year's return without affecting the client-level Tax Agent setting.
As with Tax Manager, if a permanent change of Tax Agent is required, the client-level setting must be updated through the Client Console in the desktop application.
