XPA Error: String or binary data would be truncated during a Xero collection

The data or table-value parameter "@ClientTargetMappingElements" doesn't conform to the table type of the parameter. The statement has been terminated.

If you see the 'String or binary data would be truncated' error when you run a SyncDirect Xero collection, work through the checks below. They help you find out whether the size of the collection or your Xero Chart of Accounts is causing the problem.

Collect monthly or quarterly

Run the collection monthly or quarterly rather than annually. The issue may be due to the size of the collection, so a smaller collection might work.

Ask another user to collect the file

Ask another user to collect the file to see whether they get the same error.

If they do, there may be a problem with the Chart of Accounts in Xero. Review the Chart of Accounts, especially for the following:

Check for accounts without codes

Some accounts may have descriptions but no code assigned from the Chart of Accounts. This is often the case with the Bank Account. SyncDirect can't recognise transactions from Xero without a code.

Add the missing codes and test again.

Check account names for special characters

Check each account name for special characters, such as >, <, ? or ~.

If you find any, update the account name, then try to complete the collection.
